‘We Are Ready’ — Herrera Looks Ahead to the Upcoming 2021 Trophee des Champions Final Against Lille

With Paris Saint-Germain’s preseason schedule now over with, the team now looks ahead to the upcoming key 2021 Trophee des Champions Final against Lille OSC.

PSG won the 2020 edition of this final when it defeated Olympique de Marseille earlier this year, which was a matchup that midfielder Ander Herrera featured in.

Now, Herrera is very much looking forward to doing his part to help PSG capture another win in this annual final.

In speaking following the team’s win against La Liga side Sevilla (via PSG’s official website), Herrera looked ahead to the mentality in facing reigning Ligue 1 winners Lille in this key final.

“We will prepare for the match, we have done all of this work for the match against Lille, so I am sure that we will be ready, ready to win a first title,” Herrera said. “Of course, as always, with a lot of respect for Lille, because they won the league and deserved it. So we need to have a lot of respect, but we are ready.

“Of course on Sunday, it will be even harder, because there is a title at stake. Everyone plays to win trophies, but we are Paris Saint-Germain. We are ready, we also have players that have arrived this week with us, and we will have a strong team to try to win our first title.”

Considering that PSG is still without midfielders Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes, Herrera may go on to earn a start in this match. It sure will be interesting to see on the midfield setup that Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino plans to go with for this must-win final.
