The Paris Saint-Germain midfield sees a new face come into the position this summer as Georginio Wijnaldum joined the capital club on a free transfer from Liverpool FC.
During Idrissa Gueye’s press conference with the media, the 31-year-old spoke about the arrival of Wijnaldum and what it means to the midfield. Gueye touched on competition that will bring out for every midfielder on the squad.
Canal Supporters relayed the comments made by Gueye regarding Wijnaldum, who he is also familiar with due to their matches in the Merseyside derby between Liverpool FC and Everton FC.
“You can never be sure of anything. A place is never acquired; we will have to fight. I played with Everton against Wijnaldum when he was at Liverpool; he is an excellent player,” Gueye said.
“He is one more quality player; we are happy to have him with us. It will be up to the coach to make his choices, and we will respect them. The most important is the team.”
