Video: ‘I Want to Continue to Build Great Things’ – Achraf Hakimi Discusses Joining PSG

Former Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi is the latest Paris Saint-Germain recruit this summer as the capital club looks to improve its squad ahead of the 2021-22 season.

The French giants announced the arrival on their social media platforms, and the 22-year-old spoke to PSG TV, where Canal Supporters relaid his comments.

One of the first questions that Hakimi answered is regarding his arrival to PSG and his initial thoughts on his new club.

“First of all, I have a good image of France. Then, PSG is a great club that has shown it in recent years, with constant progress. For my part, I want to continue to build great things to reach the highest level,” Hakimi said.

“Here, it is possible. The image I have of the club is above all the great players who are here and, inevitably, the great players want to come to a big club like Paris. So I am happy to be here and to evolve there.”

Hakimi then touched on having discussions with his new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

“Did I talk to Pochettino? Before coming, I spoke with the coach about the idea, what he expects from me, and what he thinks of me for the team. It was an enjoyable conversation,” Hakimi said.

Finally, the right-back spoke directly to the supporters.

“I want to tell them that I can’t wait to play with Paris, that I’m in a hurry to play in front of them,” Hakimi said. “They have been here for a long time, and I hope they will be back soon to cheer us on. Know that I will give everything possible and the best of myself to achieve our goals.”
