New Report Shares Why Icardi Prefers to Remain at PSG Amid Interest from Juventus and AS Roma

Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi is the biggest name who could soon be leaving Ligue 1.

Icardi has been garnering notable transfer as of late, including from the likes of Juventus and AS Roma. Juventus is facing an uncertain future with star goal-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, who is set to become a free agent next year. On the other hand, AS Roma is well looking for a new long-term starting striker.

Still, Icardi is not open to a possible return to Serie A for the moment. As noted by the Italian-based outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Le10Sport), Icardi currently has no desire to leave PSG over the ongoing summer transfer window.

The reason for why Icardi aspires to stay on with the French powerhouse revolves around manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine forward believes that he can establish a place in Pochettino’s go-to starting lineups for the upcoming season.

Icardi was not called upon to start as much in PSG’s decisive matches under Pochettino last season. He did earn starts in several of PSG’s UEFA Champions League knockout stages fixtures, but this came due to the multitude of injuries that the team faced over the second half of the season. More so, he only notched one start in PSG’s last nine Ligue 1 fixtures of the season.

For the moment, Icardi is slated to stay on with PSG, but this all could change over the later stages of the transfer window.
