New PSG Defender Ramos Backs Mbappe to Stay On With Paris

New Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos is all in to seeing Kylian Mbappe stay put with the French powerhouse for the time being.

Mbappe’s long-term future with PSG is yet to be resolved, even though he is slated to hit free agency next year.

Amid such uncertainty, Mbappe has been linked with moves elsewhere, including with a potential blockbuster transfer move to Real Madrid.

As Ramos just arrived at PSG, he is well aiming to compete with the best clubs in Europe and sees that such a feat could be accomplished if Mbappe stays with the Ligue 1 giants.

In speaking via a video press conference (via Marca) on Tuesday, Ramos did not join the rally call to push Mbappe to stay with PSG but rather opened up about his aspirations to see forward remain at the club for now.

“I don’t know what’s on Mbappe’s mind,” Ramos said. “I want him to stay here because he is very young and he makes a difference. There is a very good team here.”

Ramos is well aware of the rumors linking Mbappe to Real Madrid and acknowledges that someday, the French forward may very well go on to feature for Los Blancos.

“Madrid is one of the best clubs in the world,” Ramos said. “For me, the great players have to go there.

“But now I want him on my team. I want to win and for that, I want the best players by my side.”

For the moment, Mbappe is slated to soon join PSG for its preseason schedule.
