‘I Congratulate the Leaders’ – Former Moroccan National Team Captain Discusses Transfer of Achraf Hakimi to PSG

After some weeks of the ongoing saga, Paris Saint-Germain landed their right-back in Achraf Hakimi when they purchased the 22-year-old from Inter Milan €60-million plus add-ons.

One of the more prominent players on the Moroccan national team provided his thoughts on Hakimi heading to the capital club. He will need to help the capital club win its first UEFA Champions League.

During an interview with Le Parisien (via Canal Supporters), former AS Roma, Bayern Munich FC, and Juventus FC defender Mehdi Benatia spoke about when he first saw Hakimi on the national team.

“As soon as he arrived with the Moroccan selection, we saw that he had incredible qualities,” Benatia said.

Then the 34-year-old touched on his compatriot landing in the French capital with PSG. Benatia had a glowing review of Hakimi, which should cause supporters of Les Parisiens to smile.

“I am very proud as a Parisian and a Moroccan to see Achraf at PSG. I congratulate the leaders because everyone wanted it. Paris has secured the signing of the best right-back in Europe for the next ten years.”

The French giants paid a premium for Hakimi. However, the Moroccan international’s arrival solves the longstanding issue that PSG has had over the years, and at 22, the former Inter Milan defender is the long-term solution.
