It is now down to two teams in the Euro 2020 tournament, as England and Italy will square off in the final on Sunday.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is looking to make personal history with his possible first career trophy win at the international level.
Verratti has shined for Italy over the Euro 2020 knockout stage, but is now set for yet another test against an England side that features one of the more durable midfield setups in the tournament.
The PSG star is well expecting a challenge in this final, which he spoke further about during a press conference on Thursday (via Italy’s official YouTube channel).
“England is a very physical team,” Verratti said. “They have good players also technically. They deserved this final.
“We will both want to win, we will meet a great team. They play at home, in a stadium they know well. It would be a dream to be able to win it like this.”
Verratti has featured in a multitude of finals at the club level, but this will be his first appearance in an international tournament final.
The Italian midfielder will surely look to put together a top-class showing in this match.
