Alessandro Florenzi confirmed on Thursday that he will not be returning to Paris Saint-Germain for this upcoming season.
“It’s time to say goodbye,” Florenzi said. “It has been a great privilege to be part of this family, a great opportunity to grow. I really thank everyone. The staff, coaches, leaders and teammates. I wish you all the best.”

PSG had an option to sign Florenzi on a permanent transfer deal from AS Roma, but club officials elected not to do so in the end.
Florenzi had his bright spots for PSG over the course of the season. For one, the Italian defender got off to a promising start with the French powerhouse as he scored one thunderous volley goal during an early season Ligue 1 fixture against SCO Angers.
Overall, Florenzi totaled for 36 appearances in all competitions over the campaign with PSG, which included four starts in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.
The Italian talent put together key attacking and defensive performances this past season, including in PSG’s Coupe de France-winning tournament run.
It will be noteworthy to see whether Florenzi will go on to remain with AS Roma for the upcoming season.
