Verratti Provides an Outlook on Italy’s Upcoming Euro 2020 Knockout Stage Run

The Italian national team finished with a perfect 3-0-0 record over its Euro 2020 group stage schedule.

Italy topped Group A and thus will clash with Austria in the upcoming Euro 2020 Round of 16.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is very much looking forward to Italy’s upcoming knockout stage run in this tournament.

Even as Italy is now emerging as a favorite to win the Euros, Verratti sees that his side will have an arduous task in accomplishing this feat considering the multitude of serious contenders still left in the tournament.

Verratti spoke to Bein Sports France (via L’Equipe) following the recent group stage win over Wales where he provided an outlook on Italy’s upcoming knockout stage run.

“We know that there is not just one team that can win, there are six, seven teams that want to reach the final,” Verratti said. “We have to move forward game after game. We have to give everything; we know that there are no easy matches.

“All the matches are difficult, it’s up to us to make them easy by producing a good game, by playing with the heart.

“What we have done so far is incredible, and we must continue like this.”

Italy aims for a much-needed deep run in the Euro 2020 knockout stage.
