Pablo Sarabia credited learning from teammates Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as to how he has found success at Paris Saint-Germain.
Both Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino did not rely upon Sarabia to start in key matches this past season, but the Spanish winger still managed to deliver for the Ligue 1 giants. The former Sevilla playmaker totaled 11 goal involvements in all competitions over the recent campaign.
Sarabia spoke to the Spanish-based outlet El Pais about his past season with PSG, where he singled out how Neymar and Mbappe’s presence has helped him develop at the club.
“Yes, in the end, there are two parts,” Sarabia said. “On the one hand, there is the football aspect, with these players you learn and they teach you.
“Then there is the psychological aspect, to face that competition and to give a little bit more in the demands of playing important matches or finals. That also makes you mature.”
The Spanish winger went a bit further by detailing just what he looks for when studying both Neymar and Mbappe.
“Just when we rehearse definitions, you realize how they hold up, how they have that tempo that other players don’t have,” Sarabia said. “Or in decision-making, which comes in handy for me to score goals or assists.
“In the shots, for example, your safety side is the short stick when you approach the goal with a diagonal and the two have a better long stick shot, they encourage you to try that and in the end you improve it because you see the touch they give.”
Many other PSG attacking talents can certainly attest to Sarabia’s comments about studying Neymar and Mbappe’s play. The two have simply been at the top of their game in recent seasons with the French powerhouse.
