Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar finished the recent campaign with unfinished business.
Although PSG picked up major wins over Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, Neymar and company once again failed to win Europe’s prestigious club competition as Manchester City knocked them out in the semifinal round.
Even though Neymar has done it all at the domestic level, he stands unsatisfied with having not yet won the Champions League with PSG.
In speaking to Foot Paris, the PSG forward opened up about his goal of leading the French powerhouse to Champions League triumph.
“I really wanted to take Paris Saint-Germain and experience another final,” Neymar said. “This was not possible. I will do everything to do it again in the future.
“It’s not insignificant to be among the four best teams in the Champions League after having reached the final last year. I hope now to do everything to be the number one.
“We were able to confirm again this season by beating great teams. I know now that everything is in place for us to grow and excel in the coming months. We want to lift trophies. We have to believe in ourselves and do everything we can to win the most beautiful titles.”
As Neymar is still in his prime years, PSG will remain as a serious contender in the Champions League competition for the foreseeable future.
However, it would take more than just heroics from Neymar — and even Mbappe — for PSG to finally claim a first ever Champions League win. PSG would need a complete team effort in order to win this competition.
