Di Maria Reflects on What It Means to Become PSG’s All-Time Assists Leader

Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria made history during the team’s 2021 Coupe de France Final win against AS Monaco as he became the club’s all-time assist leader with 104. Di Maria accomplished this feat in a mere six seasons.

This is one notable achievement for Di Maria considering that he has gone on to meet the initial high expectations that were placed on him when he first joined PSG.

Following the win against Monaco, Di Maria spoke to PSG TV where he talked about his emotions with setting a new notable PSG record.

“I’m very happy, delighted,” Di Maria said. “Beating the record and entering into the club’s history, it’s very important. It was an important target for me, scoring goals and also getting assists in important games like this one. So thank you to my teammates for that.”

This record by Di Maria may be up there in being among the most impressive of his professional career so far. The Argentine has found success in five different competitions with PSG, which includes picking up massive assists in UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 play.

The Argentine will now look to help PSG pick up a key win in the team’s Ligue 1 season finale against Brest.
