Marquinhos has revealed his frustrations over Paris Saint-Germain’s recent performances at the Parc des Princes.
PSG came away with a sluggish 1-0 Ligue 1 home loss to Lille OSC on matchday 31. PSG failed to score a single goal against Lille despite the side having back Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. PSG recorded a mere three total shots on target in the match.
PSG has now finished with six winless results at home in league play this season, which has brought concern to Marquinhos. As the Brazilian detailed to Canal Plus, he wants to see PSG put out more formidable performances at home.
“Every time we lose we say the same thing, it lacked commitment,” Marquinhos said. “From the start, they scored and then they closed the result with comfort and we didn’t manage to score. There are players who come back from selection and others who are not in their best shape, but we should not look for excuses.
“We have to be stronger than that at home. There are a lot of teams that have won at home this season, it was not in our habits and we have to take it back in hand. We have arrived at an important point in the season and we have to get back to better conditions as quickly as possible.”
In the big picture, Marquinhos sees that PSG could still very well finish the season as the French champions once again, but consistency will be needed over its remaining fixtures.
“Now, we must not throw everything in the air because there are important things happening, we can still do beautiful things,” Marquinhos said. “You have to focus on the positive and on the things that can be improved. The next game is one of the most important of the season for us and we have to go 100%.”
PSG will have an away Ligue 1 match upcoming against a Strasbourg side that currently stands at 15th in the current league table.
