Neymar recently opened up on his ambition to stay on with Paris Saint-Germain. Following PSG’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg fixture against Bayern Munich, Neymar revealed that he “feels at home” with the French powerhouse and that he aims to remain at the club.
Neymar is set to become a free agent next year when his ongoing contract expires. But a new contract extension deal would end all speculation regarding a potential departure by the Brazilian forward from the club.
L’Equipe provided for further information over where Neymar and PSG currently stand in their contract extension talks. The report notes that for PSG, the French powerhouse would like to finalize the Brazilian’s new deal before the team’s Champions League semifinal tie against Manchester City.
The first leg of PSG’s tie with the current Premier League leaders will come on April 27.
It is currently not known on whether PSG has plans to publicly announce the new deal when it becomes finalized, or if the two sides prefer to wait until the end of the season to do so.
Neymar still has a chance to lead PSG to a treble-winning campaign this season. PSG will have two critical fixtures upcoming in its pursuit of this feat with the Ligue 1 fixture against AS Saint-Etienne and the Coupe de France match against Angers.
