Pochettino Details How Neymar Found Success in PSG’s Return Champions League Fixture Against Bayern Munich

Neymar had arguably one of the best Champions League tie performances of his Paris Saint-Germain career in the quarterfinal bout against Bayern Munich. In the first leg, Neymar notched two assists and followed it up with an outstanding attacking display in the return fixture.

Neymar did not record a goal or an assist in the second leg but still found a way to dazzle against Bayern’s midfield and defensive setups.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino was in awe of Neymar’s overall showing against Bayern, such as with the forward’s ability to maneuver his way out of tight spaces on the pitch. Pochettino spoke further to the Cadena Ser show El Larguero on Neymar’s top performance in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg.

“The challenge is to have Ney at his physical peak because he has plenty of talent,” Pochettino said. “The ability to dribble, to get out of difficult situations. He is pure talent and he showed it against Bayern. I think he’s one of the best, I think he’s on that last level.”

Neymar won 13 ground duels and completed six dribble attempts in the second leg fixture against Bayern. It was certainly among the Brazilian’s most impressive on-ball outings of his season so far.
