Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has been suspended from the team’s upcoming two Ligue 1 matches due to the recent red card controversy against Lille OSC, the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP announced.
Neymar was red-carded during the late stages of PSG’s recent league fixture against Lille. The Brazilian forward earned a second yellow card after he lightly pushed Lille defender Tiago Djalo. The Brazilian subsequently went on to have a back-and-forth altercation with Djalo while walking to their respective locker rooms.
The LFP came together for a meeting on Wednesday where one of the issues on its agenda was Neymar’s red card incident. After further discussion, the LFP decided to hand out a three-match suspension to Neymar, although one match will be suspended.
This will see Neymar miss the team’s upcoming league matches against Strasbourg and AS Saint-Etienne. The forward’s next fixture will now be the Champions League return match against Bayern Munich next week.
Neymar has so far contributed for nine goal involvements over 13 league appearances this season. The Brazilian has missed a multitude of fixtures this season due to multiple injuries and suspensions.
