Herrera Analyzes How PSG Can Come Away With a Champions League Tie Win Over Manchester City

Ander Herrera provided analysis on just how Paris Saint-Germain can defeat Manchester City in the upcoming UEFA Champions League semifinals.

PSG comes into the tie with Manchester City already having eliminated both Barcelona and Bayern Munich in this season’s Champions League knockout stage. But PSG will be in for an arduous tactical challenge now going up against Pep Guardiola and his current Premier League-leading side.

Herrera sees that PSG has what it takes to eliminate Manchester City, but the French powerhouse will need to exploit several tactical aspects over the matches. The Spanish midfielder spoke to the Spanish-based outlet Marca about this tie.

“They are a team that subdues you with the ball and plays with many people in front of them,” Herrera said. “The positions of Foden and De Bruyne are not fixed.

“They dominate the ball; they attack with six players in each action. The key will be to close the spaces inside when we don’t have the ball and not lose patience. We know that there will be times when we will have to get together and put on our work overalls.”

Both teams come into the tie looking to move on into the Champions League final, with PSG aiming for a second consecutive trip to this bout. They each are still vying for a possible treble-wining campaign, which would also include winning their respective league and domestic cup competitions over this season.
