Former French International Pires Analyzes On What is Holding Mbappe Back from Reaching the Next Level As a Forward

Former French international Robert Pires detailed on what Kylian Mbappe needs to do to up his game as a forward.

Mbappe failed to score a goal in all three of his appearances for the French national team over the March international window. Mbappe had his chances but simply could not get on the scoresheet.

Many have closely analyzed Mbappe’s recent performances and detailed some flaws in the forward’s game. But for Pires, there is one aspect that he sees Mbappe must improve on in order to elevate his game. Pires recently spoke (via RTL) about Mbappe and where this improvement could come from.

“His status is special, he has a lot of responsibilities, at the same time that’s what he wanted,” Pires said. “He got them from either the PSG side or the side of our coach, so whatever he does, whatever he says, he will automatically be judged.

“What you have to tell Kylian is that when things don’t go well, or he doesn’t have a great game, you just have to find the formulas, because after that there is also the ego. I think that it should not be forgotten, but knowing a little of the player, he is intelligent enough to make the good analysis.”

Mbappe will now look ahead to Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming two massive fixtures in all competitions against Lille OSC and FC Bayern Munich. Mbappe will surely be expected to help lead the side to wins in both fixtures, which would only garner him more supporters.
