Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta is known for his time in the Premier League, having played for Everton FC and The Gunners. However, before heading to England, a young Arteta spent one season with Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal from FC Barcelona.
The Spain international made 31 appearances for the capital club in the 2001-02 season, where he scored two goals and registered three assists. As a result, there’s a particular fondness for the French giants since it’s the first club he received significant playing time in his young career.
During an interview with beIN Sports France, Arteta answered a question on whether he sees himself managing Les Parisiens someday.
“PSG has an incredible team. The manager Mauricio Pochettino is a coach that I am close to because I played with him at PSG. He is a very strong manager, and I hope that he will win many titles with PSG,” Arteta said.
“I love Paris. I love Paris; I have very good memories from over there. It was my first club as a professional. The club is always in my heart. You never know, but I have a lot of work to do (at Arsenal).”
