Paris Saint-Germain stood firm, and their lead from its 4-1 victory in the first leg was enough to see them through to the quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw in the second leg against FC Barcelona. For the second consecutive season, the capital club advances past the Round of 16.
One of the key players in the draw at the Parc des Princes was Marquinhos. The 26-year-old spoke to RMC Sport postmatch, where Canal Supporters relayed his comments discussing the tie and advancing to the quarterfinals.
“It was tough. We knew it was going to be another contested game. Barcelona since the defeat they have played good matches. Tonight they had a better game than the first leg. They had more courage in the first half to press very, very high. We put in difficulty to get the ball out,” Marquinhos said.
“Our strength is also to have the ball, to create the game, to make movements. There are good times and bad times in football. You have to hold out in difficult times. We were able to hold on with the help of our great goalkeeper, he made the difference. In the second half, we were better. We deserve this qualification.”
