Video: French Football Pundit Comments on the Injury Status of Neymar Ahead of Champions League Clash With Barça

After picking up a 3-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29, Paris Saint-Germain can begin to look ahead at their next task at hand, FC Barcelona. On Wednesday, the capital club welcomes the Spanish side to the Parc des Princes for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The question on everyone’s mind is the status of Neymar Jr. for this fixture. The 29-year-old missed the first-leg at the Camp Nou, and there’s no question he wants to partake in the return leg.

For Jérôme Rothen, if Neymar is fit, he needs to be in the lineup as he stated in his program Rothen Régale on RMC.

“Neymar needs to play as soon as he is fit. Either way, he’s the one who decides. There, he got it into his head to be able to play against Barcelona. It pained him not to play the first leg. He does everything to come back,” Rothen said.

“If he resumed joint sessions for a few days, that means that it is a good sign and that Neymar does not need ten training sessions behind him. Given his state of mind there, you put him on the ground as soon as he is fit. After that, whether it takes 50, 60, or 70 minutes, it is up to the coach to decide.”
