Report: PSG’s Expected Starting 11 for Champions League Return Fixture Against Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg showdown against Barcelona is now a day away. All the preparations have come to a close and both teams are now set for what could end up being a memorable bout.

The two have had numerous injury questions as of late. Still, as noted by Le Parisien, here is how PSG may be expected to line up against the Catalan powerhouse.

Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Kurzawa; Paredes, Gueye; Di Maria, Verratti, Mbappe; Icardi

Alessandro Florenzi has not played in a fixture since PSG’s Ligue 1 loss against AS Monaco last month. Over this time period, the Italian fullback has been nursing an adductor injury. At the least, he did become a regular in the team’s training sessions as of late.

PSG ruled out Neymar due to his adductor injury while Moise Kean remains out of action because of his mandated coronavirus self-isolation period.

Thus, PSG could very well go with Angel Di Maria out wide as a winger and Marco Verratti taking hold of the central attacking midfield role. Both players made their returns to action during the recent Coupe de France win over Brest, so Pochettino may feel comfortable starting the two for this massive fixture.

More so, it will be interesting to see the formation and tactics that Pochettino plans to go with for this critical match.
