PSG Mercato: Bernat Set to Snub Barcelona and Commit to a Contract Extension Deal With Paris

Paris Saint-Germain defender Juan Bernat is set to be among multiple players within the team that will become free agents over the upcoming summer transfer window. This would allow Bernat and company the ability to sign with any club on a free transfer agreement. However, Bernat has already made up his mind on his upcoming free agency period.

Bernat remains set on committing to a new contract extension deal with PSG, according to a report from Le Parisien. The two sides have been in talks for a new contract agreement, which could be finalized within a couple of weeks, per the report.

Bernat had received interest from Barcelona. According to the report, the Catalan powerhouse made several attempts over the past months to convince Bernat to end his PSG run and return to La Liga. Barcelona has an interest in shoring up its depth over at the left-back position.

Still, Bernat did not entertain such talks and instead remained committed to staying at PSG.

Bernat is still currently out of action due to the ACL injury that he suffered earlier this season. The Spanish defender did make his return to individual training recently and is slated to be back on the pitch before the season’s end.
