PSG Mercato: AS Roma Not Expected to Pursue Icardi Due to One Notable Reason

Mauro Icardi is currently in the second season of his run with Paris Saint-Germain. Still, rumors have been piling up as of late regarding potential departure from the club over the upcoming summer transfer window.

AS Roma has been among the clubs in the rumor mill for Mauro Icardi. But Roma will not consider making a push to sign Icardi as the Italian club does not have the budget to pursue such a move, as noted by the Italian-based outlet Corriere Dello Sport (via Le10Sport).

Roma had given consideration into pursuing Icardi for a potential permanent transfer move. The Italian side viewed the Argentine as a possible replacement for Edin Dzeko in the case that the longtime Roma striker would go on to depart from the club over the upcoming summer transfer window.

Now, Roma has reportedly had a change of plans as the side came to the conclusion that it would not be able to afford to sign Icardi on a permanent deal, per the report.

With Roma now reportedly out as a transfer contender for Icardi, it remains to be seen whether other clubs will plan to make a push to sign the PSG forward.
