Mauricio Pochettino is not closing the door on the possibility of one day electing to become the manager of the Argentina national team.
Pochettino is currently signed on with Paris Saint-Germain for one more year following this season, although his current contract does come with an option for a third season.
When Pochettino was away from football following his managerial run with Tottenham, his name often came up as a candidate to become the Argentina national team manager. But still, there was never any such reported approach from the Argentine Football Association (AFA), especially as it remained set on having Lionel Scaloni revamp the team.
Nonetheless, Pochettino, as he told AFP (via Le Figaro), is not shying away from the possibility of one day electing to manage Argentina.
“There are also other very good Argentinian coaches, young like me too,” Pochettino said. “It’s a question of timing. Jorge Griffa told me that football will take me where football wants. You have to be ready.”
There are plenty of names that will remain as contenders to manage Argentina, such as Diego Simeone and Marcelo Gallardo. Pochettino is sure to be amongst these names as well.
