Paris Saint-Germain has drawn FC Bayern Munich for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The two sides have plenty of history with each other, such as with their recent Champions League final encounter last season.
Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer anticipates this being a heavyweight clash between two of the biggest clubs in the continent. And for the German goalkeeper, he sees two notable factors that will end up deciding on who will clinch a spot in the Champions League semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Neuer spoke (via Bayern’s official website) on what to expect with this matchup.
“They’re a great team with terrific players, a super squad,” Neuer said. “You also saw that in the final in Lisbon. It was a tight game there.
“It’ll be a tough challenge and two gigantic games. We’ll try to do our best to win the games. It’ll depend both times on who’s on form on the day and who has the right attitude and prepared properly.”
In the meantime, both clubs will carry on with their domestic fixtures. For Bayern, the reigning Bundesliga champions will have a pair of league matches ahead of the first leg duel against PSG, which includes a league showdown against RB Leipzig. Bayern currently holds a slim lead at the top of the Bundesliga table.
