Mbappe Broke One of Messi’s Champions League Records During the Fixture Against Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe was not at his top-class self during the UEFA Champions League return fixture against Barcelona. However, he did score a penalty goal in the match that gave Paris Saint-Germain a commanding 5-1 tie lead over the Catalan side.

Overall, Mbappe has now scored six Champions League goals in this season’s competition, which is tied with Neymar for the most among PSG players.

More so, the penalty goal for Mbappe was his 25th career Champions League score. As noted by Opta, this broke Lionel Messi’s record of being the youngest ever to reach 25 Champions League goals.

The French forward scored his 25th career Champions League goal at 22 years and 80 days while the Argentine forward notched his such goal at 22 years and 286 days.

Mbappe now looks ahead to adding on to his current total of Champions League goals over the remainder of this season’s knockout stage. The PSG star has a good chance at reaching 10 Champions League goals this season.
