Marquinhos Shares That Pochettino Was ‘Heated’ With PSG’s First Half Performance in the Barcelona Fixture

Marquinhos revealed just how Mauricio Pochettino felt about Paris Saint-Germain’s first half performance in the Barcelona return fixture.

Barcelona dictated the opening 45 minutes of its fixture against PSG on Wednesday. Barca created more promising goal-scoring opportunities and dominated possession with ease.

According to Marquinhos, Pochettino was frustrated with PSG’s first half showing in the match. The Argentine manager wanted more intensity from PSG, which he did not see from the reigning Ligue 1 champions over the opening half of the fixture.

As Marquinhos said after the match (via RMC Sport), Pochettino did not hold back at halftime on his criticism of the team’s performance.

“He was heated,” Marquinhos said. “He showed us our difficult times. We saw that we lacked a lot of commitment in the defensive phases. He showed it to us with little videos.

“It was difficult. We were always a little late. It was very difficult for us to press them. We were able to better manage this situation in the second half.”

PSG put out for much more of a convincing showing in the second half as it created several more promising attacking sequences and wound up keeping Barca off the scoreboard.

PSG surely will have plenty of learning lessons to takeaway from this fixture against the Catalan powerhouse.
