Even though Mauro Icardi just signed a multiyear contract deal with Paris Saint-Germain last year, his name continues to come up in the rumor mill. Clubs such as Juventus and AS Roma have been linked with a possible move for Icardi, although neither club has been reported to push for a transfer move for the Argentine.
Amid this speculation, Italian football agent Mario Miele has been closely watching the rumors that have been piling up regarding Icardi’s future with PSG.
Miele spoke to the Italian-based outlet il Sussidiario about Icardi and why his time with PSG may soon be coming to an end.
“Icardi is an excellent player, an excellent striker but not worldwide,” Miele said. “To improve himself, he should do more as an athlete and take better care of his personal image, which sometimes is not quite the ideal one.
“I believe that this is possible in the end, that his departure from the French club can take place on the next market deadline.”
Miele also touched on whether Icardi could move to either Juventus or Roma and just why the latter side may be a more likely destination due to one key reason.
“This does not seem possible to me because Icardi is not the right profile for a Juventus team,” Miele said.
“For Roma, Icardi would be the right striker with Dzeko’s departure. But how would the Giallorossi club pay him his salary?”
For the moment, Icardi remains with PSG, where he is currently a regular starter for the team.
