Paris Saint-Germain is just days removed from its disappointing 3-2 loss to Lorient. The match featured several defensive errors from PSG that allowed for Lorient to complete the upset Ligue 1 win.
Marquinhos did not feature in the match due to a slight hamstring injury. But it became widely apparent during the match that PSG was in dire need of the Brazilian’s presence in the team’s backline.
For PSG, it is not relatively new to see the team underperform in fixtures where Marquinhos does not feature in. In fact, PSG’s results with and without Marquinhos show just how valuable he is to the team.

PSG has recorded 16 wins in 19 matches with Marquinhos compared to three wins in 10 matches without him. Out of PSG’s 19 matches played with Marquinhos, the French side has only had one loss, which came in the away fixture against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
While correlation does not imply causation, it is clear that Marquinhos is among the most valuable players in Ligue 1.
