The upcoming summer transfer window is inching closer and closer. It is expected to be among the most anticipated transfer windows in years, especially with the multitude of high-profile players who will become free agents.
Among such players who are currently playing in the final months of their respective contracts is Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Dutch talent has not come to terms with Liverpool on a contract extension agreement. Thus, he is slated to become a free agent over the upcoming summer window.
Wijnaldum is expected to garner interest from multiple clubs for a possible free transfer deal. And as noted by Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain may be among such clubs that will show a notable interest in signing the impending free agent.
The report added that PSG may have plans to scour the free agent market over the upcoming window. Thus, Wijnaldum could come up as a player who may attract the interest of the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
As mentioned, plenty of teams are projected to show an interest in Wijnaldum. For one, Barcelona was among the clubs regularly linked with the Liverpool midfielder over the last summer transfer window and could reemerge as a contender for such a signing later this year.
PSG signed Rafinha and Danilo Pereira over the last summer transfer window in an effort to reinforce its midfield depth. The French powerhouse could do so once again by signing Liverpool’s workhorse midfielder.
