Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler had been one player who was in need of a strong performance for the side.
The German’s season has simply not gone as he would have liked it to go so far. From injuries to underperformances, Draxler became a player who fell out of favor with now-former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel as well as with Mauricio Pochettino earlier this season.
But finally, Draxler provided for one of his strongest performances of the season. In PSG’s 2-1 win over OGC Nice, Draxler had a key role in the team’s attack on the match due to his one goal scored and four goal-scoring chances created.
Following PSG’s win over Nice, Pochettino (via Goal) detailed on just how Draxler was able to have such a formidable league performance.
“I’m happy with what he did today, he knew how to read situations when the team needed him,” Pochettino said. “He made the connection between the offensive and the defensive on several occasions. I’m happy for him that he scored. It’s very good for his confidence.”
It will be interesting to see whether this showing from Draxler will go on to be a season-changer for him.
