Mbappe Trails Only Behind Messi in a Notable Champions League Dribbles Stat

Kylian Mbappe orchestrated one of the more complete performances by any forward this season in his showing against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

The Paris Saint-Germain star scored a hat-trick against Barca in a match in which opposing defenders simply did not have much of an answer to his on-ball prowess.

One stat that was not talked about much from Mbappe’s performance was that he completed 10 dribble attempts in the match, which is a new season-high for him in the competition.

Overall, Mbappe is now averaging 4.5 dribbles per game in Champions League play so far this season, which ranks second in the competition behind Lionel Messi (5.0).

Thanks to his 10 dribble outing against Barca, Mbappe also surpassed Neymar’s average of 4.2 this season.

Mbappe may likely not mount up another hat-trick performance over in the second leg of the tie, but he sure is capable of tallying up another high in dribbles completed over the course of the match.
