Lyon Manager Garcia Analyzes How Florenzi Has Enjoyed Success With PSG This Season

Olympique Lyonnais manager Rudi Garcia is showing his appreciation to Paris Saint-Germain fullback Alessandro Florenzi and his success so far this season.

Garcia is well familiar with Florenzi’s ability and overall prowess as a fullback. The French manager coached Florenzi for a couple of seasons while at AS Roma. Florenzi was well already established as a starter by the time Garcia arrived at the club, and it remained that way through the Frenchman’s run there as a manager.

To see Florenzi become the clear-cut starting right-back for PSG this season is far from a surprise to Garcia.

The Lyon manager spoke a bit to Bein Sports (via Le10Sport) on just how Florenzi has been able to jump right in and become a starter at a top club like PSG.

“He is intelligent in the game,” Garcia said. “He doesn’t look very athletic like that, but he jumps high, he’s tough and goes relatively fast. So yes that makes him a very good fullback and here he is at Paris Saint-Germain in one of the best teams in the world as a fullback.”

Florenzi has had competition from the likes of Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba over at the right-back position this season. But still, the Italian has prevailed each time and remains the regular starter there under new PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
