Many have speculated that Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland will soon take over as the top two goal-scoring talents in the world. Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier is one player who has already played alongside both and has some comparisons between the two.
Mbappe has already established his status as one of the more promising goal-scoring forwards in years. And on the other hand, Haaland just recently burst onto the scene into being one of the more revered strikers in the game today.
Meunier played alongside Mbappe for a couple of seasons at PSG. And in his first season with Dortmund, the right-back talent is already getting a first-hand look at just what the hype is all about surrounding Haaland.
The Dortmund fullback has no preference towards either talent, but in speaking to the German-based outlet Ruhr Nachrichten, he gave his perspective on some differences between the two.
“They are two very different players,” Meunier said. “Kylian still plays football today like he did when he was ten. He doesn’t even think about it; he does everything instinctively and lets his talent speak for itself.
“Erling acts more as an adult. He is less talented, but he works very hard. He can also be a world-class player. If I were a club president, I would sign both.”
PSG was recently linked with Haaland as a possible replacement for Mbappe if the French forward goes on to leave the club over the upcoming summer transfer window.
These two star forwards still have untapped potential as goal-scorers.
