Many have predicted that Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland will soon take over as the top two goal-scoring talents in the world. Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier is one player who has already played alongside both and has some comparisons between the two.
Mbappe has already established his status as one of the most promising goal-scoring forwards in years. And on the other hand, Haaland just recently burst onto the scene as one of the more revered strikers in the game today.
Meunier played alongside Mbappe for a couple of seasons at PSG. And in his first season at Dortmund, the right-back has had a first-hand look at just what the hype is all about surrounding Haaland.
The Dortmund full-back has no preference toward either talent, but in speaking to the German-based outlet Ruhr Nachrichten, he touched on some differences between the two.
“They are two very different players,” Meunier said. “Kylian still plays football today like he did when he was ten. He doesn’t even think about it; he does everything instinctively and lets his talent speak for itself.
“Erling acts more as an adult. He is less talented, but he works very hard. He can also be a world-class player. If I were a club president, I would sign both.”
These two star forwards still have plenty of untapped potential as goal-scorers.
