Video: Saint-Étienne Is Hopeful That PSG’s Injuries Work in Their Favor Ahead of Fixture

Mauricio Pochettino will make his Paris Saint-Germain managerial debut as the capital club returns to Ligue 1 action against AS Saint-Étienne.

As Les Parisiens make preparations for the fixture, they will be without several players as Juan Bernat, Alessandro Florenzi, Presnel Kimpembe, Leandro Paredes, Rafinha, and Neymar Jr. will miss the match.

With a signficant amount of players set to miss the tilt, Pochettino has six PSG youth products during his last traninig session in Edouard Michut, Kenny Nagera, Soumaila Coulibaly, Xavi Simons, Thierno Baldé and El Chadaille Bitshiabu.

During his press conference, where Canal Supporters relayed his words, Saint-Étienne manager Claude Puel is hopeful that the number of injuries to the PSG squad work to his advantage.

“How to approach this match against PSG? I wouldn’t say it’s a parenthesis, but it’s always something special, especially in a cover. There is a change of coach; players will be doubly focused,” Puel said.

“An advantage of having four more days of preparation? PSG has another logic than ours: recovering and bringing a lot of freshness after having already played a lot of matches and suffered injuries. They especially need to recover, rather than re-doing a little preparation. They will have plenty of juice. There is no doubt about it.”
