‘They’re the Same Caliber as PSG’ – French Football Analyst on Barça Not Being Any Different From Paris Ahead of Champions League Clash

The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona is less than a month away as the first leg is on February 16th.

For the capital club, they’re in transition after the firing of former manager Thomas Tuchel and are getting used to Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics. Meanwhile, Barça seems to have found their form after a rough start to the La Liga season but did lose 3-2 over the weekend to Athletic Bilbao in the Supercopa de España.

With less than a month away until the first leg, France Bleu Paris’ Stéphane Bitton wrote in his column (via Canal Supporters) that both squads are at a similar level.

“The goal is to be ready in February for the matches in Marseille and Barcelona. I watched Barça yesterday. They’re the same caliber as PSG. Not at the top but with possibilities. To have all the cards on their side, PSG must work. There is still a lot to do,” Bitton said.

February will see two crucial fixtures for Les Parisiens as not only will they face Barça, but leading up to the match, they’ll face Olympique de Marseille in the third installment of Le Classique this season.

Pochettino and his coaching staff hope that once February comes, they’ll hit the ground running as they’ll have an understanding of his tactics.
