PSG Mercato: Paris Open to Paying €25M for a Barcelona Defender

Paris Saint-Germain is interested in pushing for a €25 million permanent transfer deal to sign Real Betis defender and FC Barcelona loanee Emerson, according to a report from the Spanish-based outlet Sport.

PSG is giving consideration to offering up this fee to sign the Brazilian defender. If PSG does go on to complete this possible transfer move, the fee would be divided up between Barcelona and Betis. The report notes that Barcelona would net a €10 million overall profit if Emerson were to leave on a permanent move.

Over the recent summer transfer window, PSG was linked with Emerson for a possible transfer deal. But talks between the two sides only went as far as mere interest from Les Parisiens. Emerson instead returned to Betis for year two of his loan stint with the club while PSG elected to sign Alessandro Florenzi from AS Roma on a loan deal to shore up depth at the right-back position.

Emerson has totaled for 49 appearances in all competitions in two seasons so far with Real Betis.

At the moment, Emerson is slated to return to Barcelona at the end of the season based on the transfer deal agreement that the two sides came to terms on a few years ago.
