PSG Mercato: Bale’s Likely Return to Real Madrid May Hinder Los Blancos’ Potential Pursuit of Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has long been rumored for a blockbuster transfer move to Real Madrid. Mbappe is slated to be a free agent a year following this season, so the La Liga side has been linked with the forward for a transfer move that could alter the sport. However, Real Madrid may soon face a roadblock in this potential pursuit.

A report from the Spanish-based outlet AS notes that current Tottenham forward Gareth Bale’s slated return to Real Madrid after this season would hurt the side’s chances of signing Mbappe.

Bale is currently in the middle of a season-long loan move with Tottenham. Overall, the forward’s future is up in the air, but as the report also adds, Real Madrid is expecting to see the return of the Welshman to the team following this season.

The report does not detail the exact reasoning of this potential dilemma, but there could be a wage issue if Bale does return to Real Madrid. The forward will have another year left on his contract following this season and is reportedly making an astounding €14.5 million net per year. And if Real Madrid does add Mbappe, it would only drive up the wage bill to among the highest in the continent.
