Pochettino Becomes the 10th Manager in PSG’s History to Have Also Played for the Club

Paris Saint-Germain will begin a brand-new era in 2021 with Mauricio Pochettino taking over the helm as the club’s new manager. Pochettino was arguably the most coveted free agent manager, and PSG swooped in just in time before other notable clubs could have made a midseason push to sign him.

With Pochettino now in as PSG’s newest manager, he will become the 10th manager in the club’s history to have also played for the club, according to Opta.

The most notable name from this list of 10 managers is, of course, Luis Fernandez. He won a combined eight trophies as a player and manager with PSG.

Pochettino has a short but memorable history with PSG. During his playing days, he featured in three seasons at PSG, with two of them coming under Fernandez.

Pochettino is joining PSG in what will be his best chance to capture a long-awaited first trophy as a manager.
