Many former teammates and coaches of Mauricio Pochettino have come out in recent weeks to voice their support of the Argentine taking the job as Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager. Among them now is Gabriel Heinze, who believes that Pochettino ranks among the top managers today.
The new Atlanta United manager played alongside Pochettino at PSG during the early 2000s. They each also shared the pitch together for the Argentinian national team.
Heinze has been closely following Pochettino’s managerial career and believes that the former Tottenham manager ranks right up there in being among the top coaches in the world today. Heinze spoke to the Argentine-based outlet La Nacion where he lauded his once former club and national team counterpart.
“Look, what Mauricio has done has put him on the list of the best coaches in the world,” Heinze said. “And now he joined one of the best clubs on the planet, and if it wasn’t at PSG, another of the greats would surely have hired him. He was already in Paris and did very well as a player. Now we just have to see him and learn.”
Pochettino is currently off to a promising start to his PSG managerial run so far. Under Pochettino, the French powerhouse has claimed the Trophee des Champions trophy and retaken first place in the league standings.
