Report: Mauricio Pochettino to Miss Remainder of the Week Due to Coronavirus

After testing positive for the coronavirus, Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino had to step away from the squad to begin his quarantine. As a result, the Argentine tactician missed the capital club’s win over Angers SCO.

Pochettino’s assistants Jesus Perez and Miguel D’Agostino took over the managerial reigns on an interim basis as the squad traveled to Angers. Le Parisien reports that Pochettino will be out for the rest of the week as the PSG squad prepares for their Friday fixture at home against Montpellier HSC. Pochettino’s status for this match isn’t determined yet.

Despite the absence of Pochettino, his assistants will continue to install the PSG manager’s methods. The coaching staff is hopeful that come February, they’ll begin to see the fruits of their labor, with the squad having a full month under the former Spurs bench boss.

The French media outlet writes that the coaching staff wants the players to work on their defense and tighten the block. PSG concedes too many chances against all their opponents.

Furthermore, they want to restore the moral’s of Ángel Di María and Kylian Mbappé. They’ll need both players to get out of their funk as February holds fixtures against Olympique de Marseille and the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup versus FC Barcelona.
