Video: ‘We Will Do Everything to Finish First’ – Gueye Touches on PSG Being in Third Place Heading Into the Holiday Break

In the last game of 2020, Paris Saint-Germain defeated RC Strasbourg Alsace 4-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Idrissa Gueye came into the match as a substitute coming on for Ander Herrera. The 31-year-old played 12 minutes, but in his little time on the pitch, the Senegal international scored the third goal for the capital club.

After the win, Gueye spoke with Canal Plus to discuss the victory as Les Parisiens’ end 2020 on a positive note.

“We often see strikes at the moment, but it does not go to the bottom. Today we are happy. We wanted to end the year. We did it the way we did with four goals. We will rest well to get back in shape for next year,” Gueye said.

“We had to make the game easy. In the first half, it was complicated. But we dominated the match. We knew how to set the pace because he was all behind. But despite that, we were able to block their counter-attack. Today we win 4-0, and we are happy.”

Gueye then discussed the fact that PSG will close the year in third place in Ligue 1.

“We know that the most important thing is the end of the season. We started badly, we had a lot of injuries,” Gueye said. “We will do everything to finish first. Tired? No, we’re fine, we adapt. We play football, we have fun. Still in Paris in January? We’ll see.”
