Before Paris Saint-Germain took on Montpellier HSC, Leonardo, the capital club’s sporting director, spoke with Canal Plus, where he answered a few questions.
One of the significant elephants in the room for this season is what Les Parisiens will do with Kylian Mbappé, whose contract will expire in 2022. If both parties cannot agree on an extension before this summer, PSG will have to contemplate putting their 21-year-old star forward on the market.
Leonardo provided an update on how talks are going with Mbappé and his representatives to the French media outlet.
“We talk, and we want to talk, and I think he too. I think it’s time to talk and come up with a clearer idea about your future. We speak quietly, and things are progressing well. We have taken steps forward as a result of 10-15 days ago, and we will continue,” Leonardo said.
Few clubs are reportedly interested in the France international since he will command a large annual salary. However, every PSG supporter knows that if Mbappé declines to extend his stay in Paris, he will be heading to Real Madrid.
