After winning Group H and advancing into the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Paris Saint-Germain drew a familiar European foe in FC Barcelona.
The first leg will take place at the Camp Nou on February, and the return match, at the Parc des Princes, will be played on March 10. Marquinhos, captain of the Parisian team, spoke to PSG TV about the meeting he will have with the Spanish team.
“It’s a great game to play, a great challenge. It is a great adversary. We expect a big battle, and we will have to be ready for this confrontation,” Marquinhos said. “We watched the draw. There were not many opponents left to shoot. We were ready to see any opponent fall.”
The PSG defender also recalled the damage he inflicted on them in the infamous 6-1 remontada.
“We all got motivated, we all said to ourselves that we had to prepare well, there is a great story between the two clubs in the Champions League, both good and bad memories for us,” Marquinhos said. “The team has changed a lot at home. We have more maturity. The context will necessarily be very different. Neymar had hurt us at the time. Now he’s with us. He really wants to play this meeting and make us win.”
