A few months have gone by since former captain Thiago Silva departed Paris Saint-Germain for Chelsea FC. During the capital club’s run to the UEFA Champions League final in August, it seemed as though a contract extension could occur, but it wasn’t the case.

Despite having some months to cool down over PSG sporting director Leonardo’s decision to move, Silva remains bitter and hurt, as he explained during an interview with Canal Plus

“For me, the most important thing is to speak,” Silva said. “When you say things, you can’t change your mind like that. In my opinion, they have changed their minds with the Champions League.”

“I did eight years there, and it only took three games into account to change my mind. Everything I did before was wasted. It’s sad to decide that, but it’s football. We have to move forward and continue working for Chelsea, a club that deserves it.”

Leonardo is the man who brought him to AC Milan and Les Parisiens, so Silva expected better dialogue, which is why it hurt when Leonardo told him that he could leave after the Champions League final.

“It’s the saddest thing. He [Leonardo] is the one who brought me to AC Milan, he who brought me to PSG. He spent six or seven years with me, which means that he could know me a little more. And it was the opposite. When I arrived at Chelsea, I had a coach who made me feel like I had been with me for ten years,” Silva said.

“It makes me happy and keeps me working really hard. The sadness is that I am the captain who won the most titles with PSG, and I walked out the back door, not the front door. They said two or three months before (the end of the Champions League note) that I was not part of the project. In my opinion, they could have done things for my last day. They did not do it.”
