Mitchel Bakker had a solid performance in his second career start in the UEFA Champions League against İstanbul Başakşehir.
The 20-year-old played all 90 minutes where he scored a goal but had it annulled for being offside. Nonetheless, the Netherlands’ international had 60 touches and went 39 for 42 on his passes for a 93-percent completion percentage.
At the end of PSG’s 5-1 victory over Başakşehir, Bakker spoke with PSG TV to discuss the squad’s performance in the Champions League and racism in football.
“It was a strange game and a strange campaign. We started out with a loss, but we quickly started playing our football and playing better and better. Today was the best football we have played. It was a game played in a special context, but we did our best to show that racism is not allowed in football. I think we’re all proud of it,” Bakker said.
