Neymar Jr.’s comments to ESPN didn’t take long to reach Spain and cause the media to speculate whether Lionel Messi would consider a move to Paris Saint-Germain once his contract expires at the end of the 2020-21 season. Mundo Deportivo began to guess what the capital club can offer to attract the 33-year-old to the French capital.
One of the first things that the Spanish media outlet states are that PSG, along with Manchester City FC, can afford to give Messi the salary he has with FC Barcelona. Furthermore, heading to Les Parisiens, the Argentina international will be walking into a competitive situation with his former teammate in Neymar and perhaps some funds from a potential Kylian Mbappé sale to add complementary pieces to these two stars.
Then there’s the less demanding aspect of Ligue 1. Unlike the Premier League, where Messi will be relied upon weekly because of the number of clubs competing for their league trophy and UEFA Champions League competition. Meanwhile, PSG tends to take control of their league and have a sizeable gap between them and the rest of Ligue 1, allowing them to focus mainly on the Champions League.
Finally, living in Paris trumps residing in a place like Manchester, which has a rainy climate. The French capital provides a better quality of life with the comfort to raise his kids and the glamorous lifestyle that he or his wife will want.
There’s no question that Neymar will once again do his part in bringing his close friend to Paris so that they can reunite for one last stint as teammates.
