Over the holiday weekend, Paris Saint-Germain decided to shake their coaching staff up with the firing of manager Thomas Tuchel. The capital club didn’t take long to find a replacement as they’re reportedly appointing former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino to the position.

The hiring of the Argentine tactician is not only good news for those who support Les Parisiens and wanted to see a change at manager but those in charge of Spurs too.

When the English club decided to sack Pochettino last year, it triggered a payroll clause that saw them paying their former manager an annual salary of £8.5million, which was a part of the deal that he signed in 2018 and ran through 2023.

The money that Pochettino was making from not coaching allowed him to patiently wait for the right situation before jumping back into a job. However, now that the 48-year-old is reportedly set to take over Les Parisiens, this will free Spurs from having to pay Pochettino, according to Football Insider.

Furthermore, along with Pochettino, Spurs will also offload his coaching staff of Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, and Toni Jimenez from their wage bill.
