Paris Saint-Germain made the grand call on Christmas Eve to relieve manager Thomas Tuchel of managerial duties for the club. The German manager was slated to be a free agent following the ongoing season, but PSG elected to instead move on from the Thomas Tuchel era sooner rather than later.
This decision from PSG was one that the club had pondered for a while. According to a report from Le10Sport, Tuchel’s relationship with the club had been “deteriorating” for months. PSG’s board was not pleased with the team’s performances, along with the attitude of Tuchel.
Thus, the board had been preparing for the inevitable decision of parting ways with Tuchel and only waited for the right time to do so. PSG’s board simply had to seek a replacement before deciding to end Tuchel’s tenure with the club.
On Tuchel’s part, PSG’s decision to sack him did not come as a surprise. The report also adds that this was a route that he had been expecting to see unfold for quite a while.
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will move into the vacant managerial role for PSG, while Thomas Tuchel is currently a free agent manager for the second time in the last three years.
